SumCha Privacy Policy

Iksang Hwang (the “Developer”) provides the interval running app “SumCha” (the “App”). The App has no accounts and doesn’t ask for your name, phone number, or email. This policy explains what information the App processes, why, how long it is kept, and when it is deleted.

At a glance

  • No account. We don’t ask for your name, phone number, or email.
  • Your runs stay on your device and in your own iCloud. The developer runs no server that receives your location, routes, or run history, so we can’t see them.
  • Location is used only to measure distance and pace while you run. Coordinates are never sent to the developer or to analytics.
  • Usage statistics are anonymous summary numbers (for example, a run started or finished, total time and distance).
  • The free version shows ads. Ads (Google AdMob) appear only on the History tab and when you close a run summary — never on the running screen. The advertising identifier is used only if you allow it. Buying Remove Ads turns off ads and the consent prompts.

2. Why we process it

  • Guide interval runs, calculate distance and pace, keep and show your run history
  • Sync your history between your devices (through your iCloud)
  • Improve quality and find problems (usage statistics)
  • Show ads that keep the app free, and confirm Remove Ads purchases

3. How long we keep it, and deletion

  • History on your device: deleted when you delete the app, or right away when you delete a run in the app.
  • iCloud copy: stored in your own iCloud, and the developer cannot delete it. To remove it, go to Settings > (your name) > iCloud > Manage Storage and delete SumCha’s data.
  • Usage statistics: deleted when no longer needed. They are collected under a random number that isn’t linked to your name or contact info.
  • Advertising and purchase data are kept under the policies of their providers (Google, Apple).

4. Service providers and transfers abroad

While you use the app, information goes to the companies below over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and may be processed on servers abroad (mainly in the USA).

RecipientWhat is sentPurpose

If you don’t allow the advertising identifier, it isn’t sent. After buying Remove Ads, nothing is sent to the advertising service.

5. Your rights

  • You can ask to access, correct, delete, or stop the processing of your information at any time.
  • In your device settings: turn off location, motion, and notifications in iOS Settings; turn off ad tracking in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Where required (for example the EU), change your ad consent under “Ad Privacy” in the app’s Settings.
  • By email: write to iksang.h@gmail.com. We act without delay (within 10 days at most) and tell you the result. Statistics aren’t linked to your name, so identifying them may not be possible.
  • Information that the law requires us to keep can’t be deleted during that period; we will tell you why.
  • You may also make requests through a legal guardian or an authorized person.

6. Security

  • All transfers use encrypted connections (HTTPS).
  • The developer operates no server that receives your location or run history. Your history lives only on your device and in your iCloud (protected by Apple).
  • Statistics never contain location coordinates, routes, or weight — only the minimum summary numbers.

7. Sensitive information

The app doesn’t separately collect health information. Weight you enter and your run history stay on your device (and in your iCloud) and are not sent to the developer, analytics, or advertising services. The app doesn’t connect to Apple Health.

8. Cookies and identifiers

  • The app uses no cookies, and neither does the website that hosts this document.
  • The advertising identifier (IDFA) is used for ads only if you choose “Allow Tracking”, and you can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

9. Children

The app is intended for people aged 14 and over and doesn’t knowingly collect information from children under 14. If you learn that a child’s information was processed without a guardian’s consent, please contact us and we will act immediately.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the law or the service changes. We will announce changes in the app or on this page at least 7 days before they take effect (30 days for changes that are unfavorable to you).
